WORK

Sanz Caballero uses her skill in form and technique, her personal attractive esthetic, full of content and expressiveness, in her private commissions. This generates unique works that are sought by clients around the World

“I’ve always had this obsession with understanding the human body, being able to transmit what I feel when I observe it.”

ILLUSTRATION ON PAPER

The magic about a good drawing is that every kind of people looks beautiful, sensual and with a certain grade of dignity, whether young or old, thin or fat, handsome or ugly.

6B Graphite, “vert empire” ink, tweed swatches and humor are my  tools. The use of fabrics is controlled in my collages. I feel comfortable with this method of combining the clean lines of my drawn work with the charm of textiles.

HAND STITCHED ILLUSTRATION

Paula´s embroidered illustrations of the jet-set pack, an imaginary cast of characters — all skinny, stylish and slightly snooty — created with little more than fabric, needle and thread attracted people because of the sense of volume, “they wanted to touch them”

“In the 90’s illustration was mostly done on a computer but I was doing fashion illustration with a technique that, at that time, was considered old fashioned and closer to the world of housewives and grandmas. So, mixing a domestic duty such as sewing with the sophisticated world of fashion was a new thing.

PERSONAL PROJECTS

I have no real explanation for the fascination I feel for these three subjects. The attraction is almost as strong as the one I have for the representation of the human body. I guess I found beauty and elegance in all of them. I guess..
